Pear and Gorgonzola Pizza Pin It

Mmmmm! This is my favorite pizza of all time.

It’s similar to the California Pizza Kitchen Pear and Gorgonzola Pizza.

If not… you really need to taste what you’ve been missing.

Here it is…

Pear and Gorgonzola Pizza


  1. Pizza Dough
  2. 1 teaspoon extra-virgin olive oil
  3. 1/2 cup plus 1/3 cup grated mozzarella cheese
  4. 1/4 cup Caramelized Onion (recipe follows)
  5. 1/4 cup Caramelized Pear (recipe follows)
  6. 2 tablespoons Gorgonzola cheese, divided


    For the Caramelized Onion
  1. Melt 2 tablespoons butter in a nonstick saute pan over high heat.
  2. Add 1 small yellow onion, sliced with 1 teaspoon of salt sprinkled evenly
  3. Cook about 15 minutes, tossing until slightly browned.
  4. Transfer to a plate lined with a paper-towel to drain. Let it cool to the touch.
  5. For the Caramelized Pear
  6. Remove the peel and core from the pear and cut in half lengthwise then slice very thin.
  7. Melt 2 tablespoons butter in saute pan over medium heat.
  8. Add pear slices, tossing and stirring to coat with butter. Cook until 6 minutes until translucent but not brown.
  9. Transfer to a plate in a single layer to cool.
  10. For the Pizza
  11. Preheat your oven to 500 degrees. Drizzle some EVOO over the entire surface of the dough and lightly spread with your fingertips.
  12. Sprinkle on the mozzarella cheese then layer Caramelized Onion and then the Pears.
  13. Add remaining mozzarella cheese and sprinkle the Gorgonzola evenly.
  14. Bake for 15 minutes or until bubbly.
