Pizza Dough Pin It

So… do you know what my favorite kitchen “accessories” are??

There are 3 I can not live without!

First and foremost is the… Cork Screw!! Duh!

Second place is the… Crock Pot!! Duh!

And a close third is my… Bread machine! YEAH!

I love to make bread and it takes all the hard work out of it.

After all, I have 4 boys and I do NOT have time to KNEED anything!! LOL!

I don’t ever “bake” the bread in the machine, but I do love to start the dough that way.

You put your ingredients in and BOOM! You’re ready to make something delicious!

Plus… the bonus of knowing what is IN your dough…

No preservatives… no artificial anything.

Just good ole yeast and flour and some other key ingredients.

You can even make it the night before and store it in a Ziplock bag in the fridge until you get home from work.

How cool and convenient is that??

Plus… think of all the DOUGH you’ll save too!! Sorry… bad food pun!

Time to say buh-bye to the pizza guy… and say HELLO to make-at-home PIZZA DOUGH!

OK… ready to make some DOUGH?

You know you are!

Pizza Dough

Yield: 2 lb. dough ball


  1. 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  2. 4 cups all purpose flour
  3. 1-1/2 teaspoons salt
  4. 3/4 teaspoons sugar
  5. 2-1/2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil (EVOO)
  6. 1-1/4 cups water


*All ingredients should be added in the order listed above!

I buy my yeast in a jar and leave it in the fridge. It is less expensive and last for a really long time.

Once the bread machine has completed remove the dough and place on a foil lined open-sided air bake cookie sheet.

Use a rolling pin to shape the dough into a large circle or rectangle. You can pick it up in your hands and stretch it too… but usually the consistency is perfect for rolling.

Drizzle a little EVOO on top and smooth it out lightly with your finger tips. Add a little salt and pepper too if you like.

Place in a pre-heated 375 degree oven and bake until just lightly cooked (about 8 – 10 minutes) you will see it start to puff up!

Think of the “BOBOLI” pizza crust that you see in the store… that’s the outcome you’re looking for.

Then remove it from the oven and put on your favorite toppings.

You can go traditional and use red sauce with mozzarella and peperoni…

… or make a super duper supreme with the WORKS!

That’s the beauty of making your own… you can truly have it YOUR way!

My favorite is a little white sauce with Pears and Gorgonzola! OH drooooool! Love that!

Once your toppings are on… place it back into the oven and cook for another 10 – 15 minutes until nice and bubbly!

Ahhhhhh! The house smells amazing and your kids are on their best behavior.

OK… I was dreaming… maybe just the first part!
